Led Into the Light

Devotion based on the Revised Common Lectionary readings for today, Tuesday, March 17, 2026:

Psalm 146:1-10
Isaiah 42:14-21
Colossians 1:9-14

One of the most tender promises in Isaiah 42 is this:
“I will lead the blind by a way they do not know. I will make darkness into light before them.”

That promise reaches into a very real part of life. There are moments when we do not know what comes next. We face decisions without clear answers. We pray for direction and still feel unsure. At times, the road ahead seems hidden from us.

But God does not ask us to have the whole journey figured out.
God promises to guide us.

In Colossians 1, Paul prays that believers would be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. This is more than knowing what to do next. It is about living in a way that honors God, bearing fruit, growing in faith, and being strengthened with endurance and patience. That kind of life is not built on perfect clarity. It is built on trust in the One who leads.

Psalm 146 reminds us of the character of this God. The Lord remains faithful forever. He lifts up those who are bowed down. He gives justice to those in need. He cares for the vulnerable and watches over his people with steadfast love.

Today, the invitation is simple:
Trust God where your sight runs out.

Faith is not having every answer before you move.
Faith is taking the next step, believing that God is already there, making a way, turning darkness into light, and leading you with care.

🙏 Prayer

Guiding God,
when the path ahead feels uncertain, lead me.
When I cannot see clearly, help me trust you.
Fill me with wisdom, strengthen me with patience, and teach me to walk faithfully with you.
Turn the darkness before me into light,
and keep my heart steady in your care.
Amen.
